Something Old Meets Something New

Historical Venue

Sara and Ben came to me asking for assistance planning for their relaxed wedding day at a venue that never hosted a wedding before. They had booked the Oliver Ellsworth Homestead and wanted to make sure that they had everything worked out logistically. Of course, this is one of the reasons I launched UME, so this is how we worked out their wedding day!

They opted for an offsite first look, and their photographer Cait Fletcher found the perfect location to capture the moment!

To the right of the main house is a large yard that offered parking space for those who did not take the bus from the hotels.

The venu has a beautiful grapevine covered back pavilion to the main house, where the museum is. This was the perfect backdrop to exchange vows. Although in direct sunlight, we offered standing room in the back where the shade was and some cooling fans for guests who didn’t mind catching some rays.

Ceremony Music and sound was provided by a single amp and piped in cellphone. As a backup plan for rain, a tent was set up in front of the reception building, this also doubled as the cocktail reception space.

Following the ceremony Sara & Ben had no shortage of locations for bride and groom photos in the museum, and outside.

Although Blue Light Bandits were scheduled to play inside, the weather was much warmer than anticipated, so the band was much obliged to move outside while guests enjoyed their dinner, before their set.

Guests enjoyed soaking up one of the last beautiful days of the summer outside with dancing and yard games.
