An Inside with the Intern

City Wedding

Couple holding hands
Dog with bowtie for wedding

Hi! I’m Erin, the new intern for Unique Melody Events. I am a college student, and I work at a flower shop! Usually florists don’t get to see the big day, so I reached out to Yvonne so I could could get some hands on experience in the wedding business! It has been amazing to be able to see the other side of the events.

Elise and Ben’s wedding was the first wedding of our season! What a beautiful couple to jump start the season!

During the whole event I was continuously in awe of the venue. Coppersmith in South Boston was a warehouse converted into a restaurant with very cute rooftop seating, a bar, food trucks and a very modern dining area.

Initially, the ceremony was going to be on the roof, but the day had been on and off raining, so we took advantage of a space that usually holds a cafe, and turned it into a beautiful ceremony room. I learned with most venues, but especially restaurants we have limited time for set up. As the restaurant had to turn from the regular brunch, Yvonne managed set up with just enough time to spare. I was putting final touches on the greens woven through the lanterns just before guests arrived.

Romantic candles were definitely the theme! They were displayed on every table and up on the catwalk. Greens lining the tables and the walls accented the modern industrial building and were the perfect touch.

Yvonne can done a consultation with the couple and suggested to add the candles to the catwalk as well, which was a space I would not have thought to use to our advantage but personally I think it helped tie the entire space together, from the dining area to the dance floor!

Someone giving a speech

This wedding was a huge learning experience for me, and one of the biggest things I learned was to move forward and adapt. During the toasts there was a little bit of audio technical difficulties that was out of our hands, but after talking with the Amazing DJ (Shout out Jacob Sound) We were able to fix the issues and everything went on smoothly from there!

As Yvonne says, “the first dance chills!” and boy is she right!! Seeing the love Elise and Ben share in this dance was easily my favorite part of this celebration.

Driving home after this wedding, I couldn’t help but smile. Everyone at this wedding was having the time of their life, and you could tell! They didn’t want it to end, they had even extended it passed their original planned end time. This experience was an incredible start for me and made me even more excited for the weddings to come!
